Did anyone ever stop to consider just how the American right has in common with its supposed enemy, radical Islam?
Just think about that for a moment, especially when you consider the culture war which continues to plague this nation.
While conservatives don't stone rape victims per se, they must certainly would do exactly that if the victim could die from pregnancy.
I know some women who would die from a pregnancy, for various reasons. Don't say abstain from sex, because that is neither healthy nor realistic-and even your Bible says that!
Conservatives complain about the "looseness" of today's culture, especially in terms of sexual relations. Both the American right and the Islamic fundamentalist believe that women should remain pure until marriage. While we don't stone females who don't remain pure until their wedding day, a woman's sexual past is definitely fair game in the conservative's psyche, as we often consider a rape victim's history in order to probe her to see if she might be lying about the event.
The strange thing about the issue of sexual relations is that the Bible tells people that they should marry if they are unable to control themselves, not wait until their finances improve. Shouldn't those who say they follow that book let young people marry now so that they won't lead lives of regret later?
Both radical Islam and the American conservative have a passion for guns and bombs, and both ruin as many lives as possible in the name of their respective causes.
Both love to go to war in God's Name and sing songs of war in the Name of the Same.
Both try to silence critics, whether we are discussing Joe Wilson or Salman Rushdie.
Last, but not least, both love the profits which only oil can gush forth.
So, in a matter of speaking, a vote for the Republican Party is really a vote for our enemies who attacked us.
After all, who let the Bin Laden family fly out of the country on September 13, 2001?
