I just dealt with a right-wing lemming who thought that President Obama is attempting to censor the Internet.
It simply amazes me how brainwashed these sheep are!
Look, the guy got Bin Laden, has renewed our fight in Afghanistan (after Bush abandoned that war to look for weapons which didn't exist!), restored America's prestige (after Bush and Cheney destroyed it!) and reignited the American auto industry. For all I know, President Obama probably parted the Mississippi River, too.
President Obama has not taken a single firearm out of a mountain man's hands, nor has he started a race war, as some whites had irrationally feared. He proved that he was born a citizen and declared that he had always been a Christian in The Audacity of Hope.
What is it with those on the right and their hatred of this great man?
While many on the right insist that skin colour has nothing to do with their hatred of the president, one can't help but notice the racist cartoons which have been published by the New York Post, one of which portrays the president as a chimpanzee.
Could it be that what really scares the living hell out of those on the right is that America is in the process of returning to normal after a forty year period in which conservative policies attacked the poor, sent the mentally ill into the streets, outrageous budget deficits (Reagan and both Bushes), budget cuts in the wrong places (public education) and tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires (Bush) and total neglect of the nation's infrastructure (all conservatives above!) brought this nation to its knees?
Oops! I have to admit that even President Reagan raised taxes. Then again, he also granted undocumented workers amnesty in 1986 and committed treason via the Iran-Contra scandal, but what's that between friends, right? Did I forget to mention that President Reagan committed the sin of 'cut and run?'
I'll tell you what scares those on the right.
They know full well that some of the wackiest Supreme Court justices will retire before 2017-chief among them, Justice (and I use that title loosely in this case!) Scalia. Conservatives fear a liberal or even a moderate Supreme Court will actually make the United States practice what it preaches with regard to reproductive freedom and social justice.
Consider what happened after Herbert Hoover was soundly booted from office in 1932. It was a full twenty years before the Republicans occupied the White House again. The funny thing about that is that once they found someone to win the 1952 election, he turned out to be as liberal as any Democrat.
That is what conservatives fear.
After all, conservatives would never have built the Interstate system, intervened in Little Rock, nor would they have proposed a national space program.
Conservatives are afraid of the fact that they really have no one to beat President Obama in the next general election and that all which they have plundered over the past forty years will be returned to those whom they declared to be the least in society-the sick, those with disabilities and the poor. That is because the Republican Party has moved so far to the right that even Barry Goldwater basically disowned the GOP in 1996 when he said that the current Republican party was not his Republican Party-and he was right, or left...at least in 1996. That is because Goldwater voted for President Clinton that year.
Come to think of it, if I were a Republican, I would be scared shitless, too; not just because the RNC has adopted insanity and race baiting as a platform, but because every idea which they tried has failed. They also have no new ideas and have chased moderates out of their party.
So, in that case, the conservatives are right. Be afraid and be very afraid.
